10/27/09 - Keep on Truckin'
Here's a quick update on what I've been working on:
Oxhorn's Christmas CD
Well, working on this christimas album with Oxhorn has been fun, and exhausting. Normally it probably wouldn't be, but working with a cold is tough. Especially when your ears are fairly important in the matter. We're pushing for a certain deadline, and I'm hoping to make it. However, if not there's still a small bit of time we can use as "reserves"
Boryokudan Rue
Botht the developer and I have been slowly, but surely working on this project. It requires a few more tracks, then will be released specifically for a contest. After that, we will touch it up even more until it's finally ready for public release. Stil have a few tracks, and a few sound effects to create for this project. But aside for Conquest Of Heroes, I can't wait till this thing releases.
Here's some screenshots:

Conquest Of Heroes
Conquest Of Heroes is undergoing an exciting process, level design. We currently have a UT3 level design mockup of the smallest island in the game, actually available for playtesting (unfortunately it's internally only) we're now working to create mockups for other areas. But most importantly we're working on a presentation video as well. I've sent lines to both Candace Werry-McCarthy and David Brinks. We're looking to create an audio demo complete with voice acting, music, and sfx to showcase the sound departments abilities. If all goes well with these presentation elements, I may be working on Wales within 6 months.
For those who do not know what CoH is:
Conquest Of Heroes is a world where men and women can do wondrous, and terrible, things. Born with the power to level entire armies or nations, these Mutants, are a few that will lead humanity into a new era.
The world as we had known it is no more. From the ashes of an ancient empire rose a new leader... An immortal that has risen an army of gifted men and women whose powers he has used to conquer much of the western world. Now, as Europe has already fallen, the last remaining western power and free nation left on earth, stands alone. Unable to advance or to retreat, the United States lies on the edge of a sword as the armies of the Order await across the shore ready to strike.
Determined to hold out, determined to protect everything that we as a nation had created from extinction, the United States place its hopes in a few that can stand against the armies that are the forces of the Order. However, faith placed in the hands of those few, might be the undoing for the old world, for, the true enemy lies closer to home than anyone could have ever thought possible.
Conquest Of Heroes is planned to be an MMORPG with FPS elements. All specific features we're keeping a secret for now.

10/17/09 - An Oxhorn Brand Cold
We as some of you may know Oxhorn and I have been working on a christmas CD to release for the holidays, containing parodies of Christmas songs, set in the World Of Warcraft Universe. It's quite a challenge due to the deadline, as we have to get this done in time to submit to Tunecore in time for the holidays. On top of that, with absolute perfect timing *sarcasm* I've started developing a fun head cold. I can still work, but it's making things a bit more difficult due to that foggy I-don't-want-to-do-jack feeling you have with a head cold.
Never fear though, we'll get this done in time. I've got most of the ideas down, it's just a matter of preparing all of them. Usually on projects like this I start slow, but then jump to ludicrous speed. Shorter deadlines usually are a good motivator.
We've got 3 songs done so far. Without saying too much, each definitely has it's special sound. My favorite by far is doing a simple jazz trio rendition of "The Christmas Song" which of course is not the lyrics, or the title. The song itself reminds me of Vince's work on the Peanuts Christmas special. I've learned quite a bit about jazz keyboard harmony in playing it as well. That was never my strong suit, but looks like I jumped yet another hurtle. This won't be the only jazz arrangment on this CD as well.
Today I bought Melodyne. Melodyne is sort of a cheaper version of Autotune. I'm not looking to make Brandon sound like a House/Trance vocalist, but I wanted the option of changing notes, or fixing one little note, when the rest of the take is just fine. It also really helped with "I saw Three Rogues" as my penny whistle and irish whistle was out of tune, due to the half-covered holes I had to play.
Hopefully in the next day or so we'll start nailing these a lot faster. But so far the progress is exceptional. No breaks, and we should be fine (assuming this cold doesn't bog me down more than it is now)

Btw, for those that are looking at the site, there are a few things broken. I'll get those fixed as soon as possible, and be sure to keep track of updates by following me on Twitter.
